With one eye on the details and the other on the big picture, Andrew serves as creative director at Mangrove. His mission is to design a web that is more humane, that is crafted ethically, that is available to all visitors regardless of ability, and that is built using open source technologies. With over 20 years of experience working with innovative and diverse mission-driven clients from around the globe, he brings his skills as a designer, technologist and ally to every client engagement.
He is the former principal at Manoverboard, which he founded in his Brooklyn apartment before moving to Canada in 2005 with his family. Andrew led Manoverboard to become Manitoba's first Certified B Corp in 2013, winning numerous design and other awards along the way.
Andrew is active in the B Corp and Canadian design communities and recently helped create a scholarship for BIPOC design students. He serves on the board of the RGD (opens in new window). He has taught design, theory and management at the University of Manitoba's School of Art and at Red River College Polytech. When not in front of the screen, he is an avid runner. He writes a designer-focused newsletter at Dear Designer (opens in new window). Previously, Andrew worked at The Rockefeller Foundation, helping to manage a fellowship program that supported young leaders advancing small-d democracy and civil society. He received a BA from Brown University and an MFA from SUNY Albany, and he is a recipient of Fulbright and NYFA fellowships.
